I think your ECU is dead, it should not get as hot as you said in post 1, did you use an external power source for the obd read ? I recently destroyed an ECU on the bench because I plugged in the wrong power supply, I give 18 volts by mistake, car wouldn't start and no Comms through obd but on the bench I could read files no problem, I had to get another ECU

check all components in the good ecu with multimeter and compare readings with components on bad ecu, you might find the burned component

the op has just been given files by keller on mhh so we will soon find out if the ecu is still alive
