Using ST47? Yes, if you have the correct layout. It's the same as clipping to the Eeprom, you're just soldering to the back of the board instead. Saves you from pulling needles.
If someone took the time to help you, the least you can do is take a few seconds and press two buttons!

But then you need to solder... depens on what he finds easier.. (with chip he doesnt need to desolder i think).
