RE: Disable active steering e91
6783362 is for E60 series! You SURE we are talking about E91??? (well, it could have been used in some other series too - I haven't checked ALL of them, but that was DEFINITELY used in neither E91 nor any other E89 family chassis).

P.S. Well, VIN is for E91, so I have no idea what kind of Frankenstein's monster you have there.

P.P.S. Based on the car data you need 6776067 or 6862873 or even some other depending on what HW is there. All these are SAME for both 217 and not, but if you have 6783362, then it could be someone put DSC unit in there from E60 in which case HW may NOT be compatible to 6776067 or 6862873 or others.

Remove $217 from VO, add $216 EPS retrofit in my case.
There was no need to change the DSC, I was mistaken and ordered another one, but the problem was not in it. It turned out that the DSC sensor is different for cars with active steering. I took a sensor from an without AFS car, coded it on a new DSC and everything worked perfectly.
The DSC sensor is located under the driver's seat.
Everywhere on the forums it is written that the module must be flashed with software without AFS, but it is absolutely the same in number.
If necessary I can check if I keep it on the laptop.
But it can always be seen in realоем.

the problem is its an e63, ive tried both seats but theres no sensor underneath.
swapping dsc didnt help, also changing 217 to 216 and code/programm also not.

in realoem i can see that the sensor should be underneath the passenger seat.
Is there any other location it could be ? cuz theres only the subwoofer / speaker

RE: Disable active steering e91
Lastly, what kind of car are we talking about, e91 or e63?
It's different on the e63, there are several variants of the system over the years. For more specifics leave a vin or just look at the schematics yourself in the TIS also the part numbers in the OEM catalogs.

RE: Disable active steering e91
OP CLEARLY does NOT want ANY help. Thread started as E91 even with a VIN provided, then suddenly it's E63!... Without any explanation! Was also asked what faults there are - no reply. I'm out.

Sorry for the confusion. So I startet the thread with my own car to practice the AFS off.
But now I have an actual car here, which is an e63 6 series with an AFS error.
That’s why I swapped the car. Was my fault that was stupid lol

So now the e63 is what I’m working with.

What I’ve done so far:

Deleted 217 and added VO 216.
Wrote FA, loaded up Ista/P and calculated measure plan with DSC marked as swapped.

But even with the new VO, the car loaded up the same ZUSB as before, programmed and coded the DSC new. Error still exist.

Then we swapped out the DSC ecu (you can swap them out without changing the whole DSC unit).
It loaded up the same ZUSB as before which tells me there’s no difference between the DSC modules. With or without AFS. (Which was already mentioned).

Then I’ve tried to locate the Speed sensor underneath the passenger and driver seat since I thought it’s the same location as e9x (I’ve searched it in realoem with the e63 vin and it told me it’s it’s underneath the passenger seat). But I couldn’t find it.

That’s the vin of the car I’m working on and I have problems with.

Would be nice if you could still assist me. Even if I made a mistake smile

RE: Disable active steering e91
AFAIK E63 do NOT have "speed" sensor for AFS specifically. They use DSC sensor for acceleration/yaw, but then it's the same irrespective of 217 or not 217. And it's near center console (almost middle of the car) on the drivers side under the carpet. Also DSC firmware for E63 differs only for 5DF or not. Does not depend on 217.

So will you share WHAT FAULT you have??? Because as I see you need to CODE MANY units without 217. Also if you add 216 you need to wire servotronic valve.

So the first two pictures were before deleting VO 217.

Also added the ZUSB Ista/P flashed.

Also added the picture after deleting 217 and adding 216.
Nearly same error if I only add 217 and flash with Ista/P

Okay so I should just delete 217 and dont add 216 if i dont plan to wire the servotronic valve.

RE: Disable active steering e91
You need to replace the DSC sensor B75 in the picture.
In the attached link you can see the entire diagram of the DSC module.
On this car it is under the passenger seat under the carpet, you can see the picture.
After replacing this sensor, it will allow you to calibrate the steering angle in SZL. and the DSC errors will be removed.
