Does FA coding only change parameter or does it swap entire CAFD? - mitch32 - 16-07-2026
As title, does anyone know if modifying an FA (let’s say for a retrofit, where you change both type code and/or salapa options) and then perform coding per the FA, does that change only the parameters on a FDL or does it actually potentially completely swap to another version of a CAFD?

Coding only adjusts the parameters within the respective .ncd file according to the FA.

It can swap a cafd also, change bootlоаdёя etc..
For example typekey + buildate in a G80 differential module

The OP said "and then perform coding per the FA". What you're referring to is calculating SVT target, doing a TAL calculation and TAL execution, which is a lot more than just performing coding.

I played around a bit and honestly think that there is no way just coding via FA would do anything other than change parameter in the CAFD. You’d have the do a big change to the FA then recalculate the SVT and make a TAL to change the CAFD file to another CAFD file.

Unless you are using рдят in the different chassis (series)...
P.S. But then you need at least to inject new CAFD, not just simple coding, which will fail.
