Really? Starting to think that I'm loosing my time with this shit software.
I tried again with another fresh install but I'm still getting the same ERROR. So I think that the problem is due to the software and not the machine itself.
The installer sometimes doesent even make the desktop links...
NO DDL errors or something strange just the path not found. The software is installed on the C drive.

Thanks! Followed the instructions but still ETKA on my laptop (W10 32-bits) does not update to 8.1, with the same error message (no ETKA 8 found). Any further suggestion would be much appreciated.
EDIT: Update to 8.1 successful! Not sure how it happened exactly but after following the above instructions and still getting the "no Etka8 found" error I re-ran the update exe from Etka 7.5 to 8 which was saved in my back-up files, but I did cancel the final installation step for fear of corrupting the program. Low and behold, after restarting Etka it appeared to be the updated version 8.1.
I then ran into the issue mentioned in Post #121 (User Identification / Login Data) and fixed that with Planet-Fireball's instructions. Many thanks for that again!
All is well for now - I hope it may be of some help to those of us who face the same issue.

Data Updates
There are many PM Requests about the latest Updates.
The reason of the empty uploaded.to folder after the installation is,
that carfreak.kiss (the creator of this ETKA version) has stopped
supporting ETKA.
So please use the well known ETKA update software, which can also
be found on this forum.
ETKA Updates (from 8.0 to 8.1)
There is no 100% working update solution at the moment, which
works on all computers and operating systems. A variant which has
already led to success on several computers, I have presented in my
last post. Without warranty of function or completeness.
Leechers
There are currently too many leecher requests, conspicuous with the
same content in the PMs. I will now examine the requests more closely.
Therefore, the answers on the PMs takes a little longer.
And please make sure you have the "PM Receiving" function turned on in your profile settings.
I'm getting tired on the "The user has turned off PM Receiving" message.
