Sorry to drag up an old tread. Referencing the quoted post, has anyone else managed to get a bench setup working with a KGM?
Looking at the posted schematic, it claims KGM pins 16 and 17 are D-CAN.
I have hunted the internet, BMW WDS and BMW's Technical system for a KGM pinout and everyone I find lists pins 16 & 17 as not used. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I know most bench setups I've seen use a JBE/JBBF for the gateway, but I would like to have my setup as close to my car (E63 LCI) as possible.
Thanks to anyone and everyone that can offer help.

Actually, there's no difference which gateway module you will use. It serves only for communication between K-Can, Pt-Can and D-Can or K-line. Using KGM instead of JBBEII gives you nothing, because both doing exactly the same thing. It doesn't matter that your car is E63, JBBEII can be used to bench diagnose, flash and code any module from your car. If you still want to use KGM, it is correct that it has D-Can pins on 16 and 17, but it also has K-line pin that can be used for communication. It is like that, because BMWs after 03/2007 use CAN in diagnostic socket, and ones before 03/2007 use K-Line for diagnostics, despite all modules in car use Can to communicate with each other. I don't know why there's no D-Can on KGM schematics and pinouts, because as I said above, cars after 03/2007 use it.

hello,

I've been using a KGM for years and it works without any problems.

thx

As I said in previous post - no matter what will be used, it's only gateway module. You can use JBBE, JBBEII, SGM, KGM and D-Can or K-Line depending on used module. It all will work if proper wired.
