I've done many E46 M3's manual swap in the past , no flashing was required , all I used to do is to delete SMG $793 from FA , coded the whole car and finish .

If you have done the hardware swap рдят correctly , then you should not have any problem.

yes, this will work, too - but I learned now, that there are different ZUSB between manual and SMG transmission.

hardware number on the ecu is :7837941... can anybody check which software nr i have to chose for the manual swap

should be 7837907 for DME рдят number 7837941 7837908DA.

There are 2 different hardware versions for the engine ecu that manages the S54B32.
MSS54 (early gen.) and MSS54HP (later gen. and used in M3 CSL - has more ram amongst other PCB differences).

Yours is the older MSS54. The error when flashing with "7837779" zusb is due to the fact that the firmware files are for MSS54HP. You'll notice their file size is larger than those files for MSS54.
7837929 is for MSS54 SMG, so you should flash with " 7837907" which is for 6 speed manual.

In short: bmchicago's correct

how can i find the correlation between the рдят number and the software number ? i've seen in the .dat file searching by the hardware number , on first line i have the correct xxxx907 file name. but can't decide if manual or auto

Hi, 

I attempted to flash the manual software (ZUSB 7837779) on my MSS54HP (HW 7835564 / SW 7836468/ BHD 7831825/ ZB 7836467) using WinKFP in Comfort Mode.  WinKFP displayed “ECU can still be programmed 10 times”. 

After clicking OK, about 5 seconds later I get Error 211 / NET-0009 (2000/9100). 

The progress bar never reaches 1%. The car no longer starts, but I still have communication with the DME using Tool32, and I can successfully read the AIF and IDENT. I also tried ёxpёят Mode, but I get Error 500 - Wrong ECU Identifier as soon as I select the data file. 

Has anyone seen a DME that still communicates normally through Tool32 but refuses to enter programming mode? 

Could this be a bootlоаdёя/programming session issue, or is there another recovery method over OBD? 
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. 

Edit: I solved the programming issue. The problem was caused by my software installation. I reinstalled BMW Standard Tools/SP-Daten on a different laptop and used a K+DCAN cable instead of the їсош. The flash completed successfully without any errors.
