Hi All,

No other way around it, then to call me newbee and most probably same goes for this question that I have.

I got my self two test ECU's and one that comes off from car that is somehow working:

• DDE 7812500 (N47 out of E60)
  
• DDE 8506199 (N47 out of E60)
  
• DDE 8506356 (N47 from E83)
  

Can those ECU's be cloned from one to another ? For example eeprom and flash from 8506356 can be cloned into 8506199 or 7812500 and car would run upon ignition ?

the top two part numbers should be ok for cloning and the bottom one I think not gonna work.

Will mostdef report on it, but since this is quite new to me wanted to check before I make a fatal mistake

Just spotted my mistake when I went to pull ECU from E83. It's DDE 8506373 - 0281016065, not as I assumed 8506356 - 0281016064. 

To make it clear I have three ECU in front of me. Clearly last two are compatible for exchange with each other, but 8506373 I don't see on the list. Nevertheless 8506373 is newer part then 8506356 accoding to ETK then should I assume that list provided by you still applies ?

I had a go today at cloning E83 to E60 ECU's and with PCM and Scanmatik. Here are my findings

I made a clone of E83 - DDE 8506373 - 0281016065 to both:

E60 - DDE 7812500 - 0281015552
E60 - DDE 8506199 - 0281016066

In both cases eeprom and flash was sucesfully written. After instaling "cloned" ECU's in E83 car has started without any issues or lights on dash. Unfortunatly on both E60 ECU's I could not perform any diagnostics via OBD (inpa/ista/tool32 with K+D can or ICOM failed) or on bench.

Once I restored original flash/eeprom diagnostic communication on bench has returned. Based on this I assume that those ECU's are not exchangable - or maybe I missed something ?

some will work flashing full read on second ecu, some not. they have OTP area. there are tools that can patch files automaticaly and make it work.. but not pcmflash... i had same experience.
edc17cp02 - ktag failed
edc17cp02 - magpro2 worked perfect ( had clone function), it also shows u where is the OTP area
