In the model A4 A5 Q5 the fault code can often be deleted after 5 ignition cycles. Definition of an ignition cycle= the engine must run at least 90 seconds. Repeat this 5 times. The fault code status is the changed to intermitent and can be deleted. In this case ABS shuold not be replace. However, it is not posible to delete the fault code if more than 30.000 HBC (hydraulic booster failure compensation) activation have been performed. Then replace abs unit. When this happened , the driver of the car has ignored the warning on the dash too long.

Regarding this there is nothing the driver can take care of. There is a mechanical/pneumatical problem which causes HBB function to frequently turn on the hydraulic pump when braking. That is a regular feature taking place when there is not enough underpressure. So there is nothing to warn about upfront. As soon as pump activation threshold is reached due to the external issue, you will run into this DTC.

Driver likely even doesn't notice because with HBB pedal is still soft.
