Esys DME Flashing for more HP
I was wondering if anyone has done it.
I have seen some old tricks that work on N54 engines and Diesels. BMW makes models if the same engine with less horse power, Like the Mini has the B38 1.5 engine with 75/102/136 HP. and the B38U 1.2 engine with 1.2/102 HP. The 1.5 Engines are actually identical, the 1.2 engines are also identical but 75HP has no Start/stop 102 does have it, but they have the same starter.... So i just went for it and tried it, changed the typeschlussel to a 102 hp model with 1.2 engine and flashed the DME, only different was a SWFL file so flashed it and coded the ecu. Flash was succesfull, engine started but had a couple of errors. Ista showed: DME: Internal Fault (wrong data record) Gear Sensor, signal: Not Learned, MSA deactivated (probably a start/stop thing) The DME error caused the engine to run in emergency mode (limp mode) according to ista. I didnt try to drive the car, the engine started so that was fine. Question is...Is it possible to do this "trick" without having to really tune the ecu with special software? Trying to figure out if OEM Tuning is possible... |

you need less than 10 hours in DME to change power class. Or you should just find a tuner to do an aftermarket tune correctly. Some of these changes from BMW usually require different intake manifolds, camshafts, oil coolers and engine fan upgrades.

Is this something which can be done remotely? Or do i need to remove the dme?

RE: Esys DME Flashing for more HP
you'll need tuning tools to read the dme. usually for working hours must be on bench and not through OBD
