NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly
Haven't been using NCS Expert for a while. Today I needed for some VO coding and noticed that NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly. It show the short VIN numbers but everything in front is WBAAA00000. Because of this the check digit is not correct.
Is this known issue ? |

RE: NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly
some models do not store the complete VIN depending on EWS/LM/LCM/KOMBI/IKE versions

RE: NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly
Yes, but I was reading from DME which should have complete VIN. The question now is whether to continue with VO coding with this incomplete VIN.

RE: NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly
i'm confused by your statement.
NCS does not use the the VIN from the DME to calculate FA/ZCS. If you have an incomplete VIN on DME, this is caused by programming with older versions of DIS/Progman. You can use WINKFP or ISTA/P to reflash DME, even if its the same program number. This was a known problem when cars would fail emissions testing. If your VIN is stored incorrectly in EWS or LM, you should overwrite it with correct Long VIN with check digit |

RE: NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly

NCS only reads full VIN from EWS/CAS Vojnó

RE: NCS Expert does not read VIN correctly
on older models like e39 and e46 the frame does not show the full VIN.
VIN and VO or FA ncsexpert does not read it from DME |

This was the first time when I had to VO code bike while NCS reads incomplete VIN. So, when NCS ask to enter the VIN when changing the VO I was not sure whether to enter the incomplete VIN read by NCS or to enter the actual full VIN. I entered the actual full VIN and changed the VO without issue. (07-07-2022, 08:44 AM)Vojno Wrote: What type exactly? This was on F800GS bike. Today, same thing on K1200R |
