That was quick, ECU arrived this morning but I wasn't in to collect, I'll pick it up tomorrow and try it in the car

Ok guys, the ECU arrived today from amme88, I installed and the car is turning over but no start, I have these faults , when I clear the faults, I just have the checksum error fault

Unfortunately I don't have the appropriated tool, another member is sorting it out for me

My guess is that even if ecu has been opened before and unlocked (probably with another tool that kess couldn t identify as UNLOCKED), and you did a second Unlock procedure on a already unlocked eeprom. the unlock is done starting from adress 240x0A till 250x01.
So recovering ori ecu depends on reverting string 74 34 a6 90 8d 34 49 6c to a lock procedure. that will recover ur ecu 100%

Give it a try on ori ecu. my advice, use Kess, solder resistors and try this:  connect Boot wire to case of ecu when make ID. but do  not disconnect boot wire from its place from board. just make a jumper to ecu ground case. good luck.

also u can try read eeprom using a reader as xprog...but not on board my advice. not all readers can read onboard.

Thanks for the advice Aladinnu, the great rod benders is going to sort it out for me, I just have to mail the new ECU to him along with the old one, yes, you're most likely correct in saying it was unlocked before, when I received the ECU, it was clear to me that it was opened by a butcher before, I should never have put my hands on it, but unfortunately I did, I'll keep posted

I'm thinking maybe this is the reason I ran into trouble with this ECU, I didn't have resistors, I had to go into town to get some but the tuner that I use give me this pic for unlock on pcr2.1, he said he always unlocks this way, the unlock seemed to go ok but no Comms afterwards

wrong . u must use resistors. if u didn t use resistors then u probably killed ecu with voltage.

I assume that unlock procedure that I used is for use with genuine alientech equipment, not for use with clones

Indeed. I did some research. Now im 100% sure u killed ur ecu because u didn t use resistors. Both boot and cnf1 are connected to board with resistors. Because u didnt use them u sent higher voltage to board. Here is a little info avout voltage coming out of ktag

Well that confirms it aladinnu, the tuner is a proper as#&+e, he told me I'd have no problems, that he'd been doing it that way for years, all this trouble over €3 worth of resistors, lesson learned, cheers.

Well guys, the car is finally running again the ECU that I got from Amme88 with the help from Rod Benders got me out of trouble, these 2 guy's clearly went out of their way to help me get this solved and I can't thank them enough, neither of them would accept any payment for from me for the help I received, such generosity is rarely seen in a forum, so I've decided to make a donation to keep the forum up and running and I encourage anyone else, no matter how big or small to make a donation if it's possible, there are 6 pages in this thread and I'd like to thank everyone that Got involved, it's truly a great place to hang out, so we can call this one solved, goodluck to all.
