Basic Navigation retrofit Mini F56
Hi,
I'd like to retrofit the Basic Navigation (HU_ENTRYNAV) in a 2014 Mini F56 that already has the Visual Boost, but no navigation. As far as I understand it, I should just be able to replace the head unit with a second hand one, add an NBT retrofit adapter to the CAN-bus and add a GPS antenna. However, I've also picked up some stories about needing a MOST retrofit adapter. So my question is will an NBT retrofit adapter with just CAN-bus work on the HU_ENTRYNAV? I have not checked the physical radio yet, but if I look around on the internet it seems that the HU_ENTRYNAV does not even have MOST. I assume that Ethernet is just for flashing? Also, if the second hand unit does not come with the correct FSCs, my understanding is that I can use a different donor set by calling steuern_persistency_clear(0x01) in Tool32 and then update the VIN of the HU using WriteDataByIdentifierVIN and finally upload the new donor FSCs. Is this possible or am I missing something? I've also read that you can brick the ENTRYNAV if you connect it to a different car without calling steuern_persistency_clear first, but my assumption is that the retrofit adapter will prevent that? Thanks |

RE: Basic Navigation retrofit Mini F56
Actually, I wouldn´t do any of these jobs, just install the can-bus adapter and you´re good to go, do you really need new FSCs? I´ve done it few times and it was pretty much straight forward. Also you´re right with MOST, you don´t need to add anything like this

RE: Basic Navigation retrofit Mini F56
Thanks, I guess it depends on the second-hand unit if I need new FSCs. Most likely it has everything I need already indeed, except map updates but those can be found relatively cheap.
