How do i install FSTOOL? How do i Script activate my CIC?

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. After some time, I have got the flash to go through successfully. I knew I had the right files. Also the settings in winkfp should have been OK too. I have read just about every forum on the topic, plus examining the contents of some of the files themselves, I was sure I had it correct.

So I watched the progress while flashing using task manager/networking. I can see when the ethernet port was being used. It would be quiet at the start for a while, then some activity for about 10-16 mins then it would stop with the security error.

Looking back at the settings in WINKFP and there are two settings for what look like trace files. They are set to 0 normally, so I set them to the highest level. I thought I would look in these files to find any problems.

Running the flash again, I watched the networking, but this time instead of stopping where it normally does, it carried on. I knew I was onto something.

I work in IT, and spend a lot of time debugging Microsoft's efforts in code. Performing extra logging can slow down performance of systems, so maybe adding the trace levels, slowed things down enough for the ICOM/MOST bus to not error. I also have a iPOD interface on my MOST ring, it's not used anymore, but has to stay there to close the loop. Perhaps it's introducing some problem.

So now I have my CIC with the firmware it had when I bought it (v54, mix of E89 and E60). All my coding is still as it was. Now, am I brave enough to try again and downgrade to v41?

So I tried to downgrade again. I figured if it worked once to flash, it should work again right? Wrong. The downgrade failed. Same type of error. Tried it once more and gave up. Went to go back to the latest firmware, and that failed too. Took five or so attempts and it went through. I guess flashing is just unreliable, at least in my case. It always fails in the same point, i have been following the trace files. If it makes it past that problem point, it is good for the rest of the flash.

Now I realise i have another car wih BMW Apps, and maybe i should just trying copying the certs over instead.

Copied certificate not gonna work.

I had similar issue with other module. Neither of Ista P, Winkfp, NFS worked, stops on error during flashing. I changed the laptop, install BMW standard tools from another source and off we go.

Yeah I thought afterwards it's probably not as simple as copying the certs from one car to another.

But how about, changing the VIN of the CIC, and installing repair certs for that VIN. I have another car with BMW Apps etc factory installed. If I get the repair certs for it from BMW, can I insert them into my retrofit CIC (with matching VIN)?

Or do the tools realise the repair certs are not the same as the certs already on the CIC and refuse to 'repair' it?

Same problem here.
I have tried to update my retrofited CIC in my #0304 E60 with CI63F1 of E89 in WinKFP expert mode.
The programation started, sent the CID screen to blank, activate the CIC fan, and stops with an error a few seconds later. The progress bar in WinKFP was still at 0%.
I can read the ecu with INPA, ToolSet32, NCS, it´s in "FLASH_PROGRAMMIER_STATUS 12" but I can´t retry a programm procedure.
IstaP does not solve the issue as it can´t access the ecu.
Anyone could help in exit "FLASH_PROGRAMMIER_STATUS 12"?
What are the ARGUMENTS I could use in ToolSet32?
I´m confident the flash process hasn´t started and the ecu is functional.

Post a configuration that you used. Icom winkfp settings..I guess everything.

Not exactly this configuration, I have only "unchecked" the "UIF write in expert mode", I could try but the problem I think will be the same, No response from control unit until I exit the program mode.

The CIC is working again

The trick has been to program it with ISTA-P in an E90 car with CIC from factory.
