ZSkoda  State of Health for Battery using ISTA+
Hi,

I was trying to determine the battery health or state of health for my battery using ISTA+ but I was able to check State of charge and charging status histogram.

Would anyone know to find of the State of Health on BMW battery?

Thanks.

RE: State of Health for Battery using ISTA+
Maybe you are looking for "Energy Diagnosis", search for that in ISTA to get the ABL.

RE: State of Health for Battery using ISTA+
Thanks, will see if I can get the battery health info using your method..

Edit.. It looks like I can't get the battery health information from the Energy diagnosis.. Here is the info from ISTA.

Energy diagnosis
A breakdown due to a drained battery or problems in the vehicle energy system can have a wide range of causes which, in most cases, are not caused by the battery itself. For this reason, replacing the battery will only rarely provide a sustained solution to the problem. The energy diagnosis procedure helps find the cause of the problem.

Result of the energy diagnosis
The procedure reads all the necessary data from the corresponding control units (see below). After evaluating this data, it displays the following information:

Conspicuous information: this information is only displayed if there was a problem in the vehicle energy system. The number of information items varies.

This information includes the possible causes of a flat battery or a vehicle electrical system fault. Look at the list of possible fault causes, then select the number of the relevant causes in order to bring up detailed information, instructions and the associated diagnosis codes. If there are several possible fault causes, they are listed in order of the kilometre reading at which they occurred (most recent first).

For example: the vehicle does not 'go to sleep' (sleep inhibitor); the vehicle is wakened time and again; the side lights were switched on for too long, etc.

Standard information: this information can always be displayed (evaluation of closed-circuit current monitoring, information about battery such as battery states of charge over last 5 days, driving profile, stationary profile).

RE: State of Health for Battery using ISTA+
If you execute the Energy diagnosis ABL, you will see few battery tests including the ones you did in your OP, all those tests collectively are "state of health" for the battery. They report charge state (SOC), history, check control msgs, any IBS errors...

I have not come across a battery "state of health" procedure in ISTA, and SOH is only mentioned in one doc in ISTA (IBS FUB).

Have you ever executed this SOH procedure in a previous version of ISTA?

Thank you. No, I haven't done this test before and I will execute all of them to find out.

Thanks again.

Try what aboulfad said. You can also:
Connect to the car using your preferred cable.
Do a vehicle test
After a vehicle test, go to Vehicle Management --> Service functions tab.
Next select Body, then Voltage Supply
Then select Battery
Here you will find the option to test SOC. Choose Evaluate Battery State of Charge.

@Reclaimer, he already did the state of charge and histogram as per his first post, he was asking about the "State of Health" which seems to be a runtime measurement, the IBS FUB mentions both state of charge and health but I never came across a SOH procedure.

Thank you guys for helping me out. It looks like we need to use the BMW battery tester to find out the state of health as per this document.
