I was playing around Xentry to see how to block the internet check of the StartKey license file.
I wanted the computer to go on the internet, and not lose the StartKey for Xentry.
Setting the lic_key_2.dat as 'read only' gives me a Xentry error.


I used the Windows firewall and created a new rule blocking the connections (incoming and outgoing) to the following program:

Size:	177 bytes

So far no more lost license key. No more "No Authorization Code" errors.

Make copy from lic_key_2.dat and rename the copy from lic_key_2.dat to lic_key_2.x4711
The new file must be read only!

Yes, possibly true, I was trying to get away from read only, because Xentry likes to throw 3.17 errors.
So I discovered that you can block that particular exe from checking the license against Mercedes servers.

I find it so odd that renaming to x4711 attempts to solves that. Why?

Before deleting the false key, StarkeyCenter creates a file with that extension (.x4711).
If this file already exists, than starkeycenter don't delete and keep accepting your "false" key as a real one.

ZBUS is the process that is the bandit stealing your StartKey. It is required, though for normal operation. If you block the application in the Windows Firewall, it will break many Xentry features.
