Beggining of ChipTuning
I want to start doing ChipTuning. I want to do new cars (2010 and up, sometimes a bit older). For start I want get hardware to read files from ECU, send to people who can modify it for $$$ and write to ECU. Now I'm doing BMW, Mercedes, VAG and I'm specially interested in this makers, but I also want other. So:
1) What hardware buy? Is it really need to start with genuine or it is possible to start with clone? KTAG, KESS or Galetto? One guy advice me that if I want to buy clone I should buy KTAG, because usually I will be dissaembly engine ECU all time with clone. 2) I heard that I can't do any new BMW (2012-later) with clone, only with genuine, is it correct? 3) How about dyno? I want to buy road dyno (install on or in car and go to test drive on highway). What do you think about this? 4) KTAG and KESS is AlienTech product (alientech-tools.com) and Galetto is FG Tech (fgtechnology.it)? Do this websites are correct? 5) Someone told me that without genuine product I can't do lot of ECU with OBD, and I will need to dissasembly ECU. Is it correct? 6) Any advices? I will be very thankful for any information! BMW Coding Programming Retrofitting

RE: Beggining of ChipTuning
Always is better to buy original !
Start with good clones. We all know that you want to start making money right away but this will not happen Start with old cars to learn from them. New car (ecu) are easy to 'kill' then what you do , that is why you need to start with old one(cheaper for you when you kill it) we all kill 1.2.3....ecus and easy to fix your mistake get your self a galletto at first No help for people not give a feedback

Controversial lol Yes if money is no object then buy original tools, all protocols open, best if everything....then if chiptuning isn't for you sell the tools at a massive loss Reality is we don't know what the OPs situation is As stated on other forum I recommend to start with a couple clones (just to see if tuning is for you) it's small initial investment |
