Dit you unblock al .rar files before extract if working with winrar

NETframe work 4.7.2 installed?

Databases in correct directory? (C:/Rheingold/SQLiteDBs , minimum 5 Files )

Register setting checked?

You can check ISTA LOG file (C:/Rheingold/log)

Hey,

i have also Failed to start ista.
Im out of ideas, i think everything should be OK.
I have tried with 2 different laptops with fresh Windows 7 & Windows 10.
All vcredist are installed & Framework.
SQDBlites also 5 files.
Hosts file cleaned etc...

Hi all.

For all those who find themselves stuck on ISTA with the error "ISTA Failed to start" and for whom none of the solutions generally proposed do not work, here is what can prevent the launch of the program.

After spending hours looking for why ISTA refused to get started, on a fresh installation of Windows 10 x64 and all the procedures followed, I finally found what was blocking the program.

We consider the classic installation: Fresh Win10 x64 with updates, patched Ediabas, Java, all VCRedist, VS90_piaredist, and .net framework. Regfix and Hosts cleared. ISTA-D extracted and SQlite (5 files). Of course, Windows Defender disabled and firewall rules added. I also disabled Defender Smartscreen, in doubt.

When I analyzed the .log files, I always saw the same error in the ISTA launch process: "Manipulation detected". So I ended up telling myself that there must be an integrity error in an .exe file. And, surprise, I realized that the size of the file ISTAGUI.EXE suddenly changed!



As you can see on the captures, the file size goes from 2973 KB to 3180 KB. So I tried to find out what was causing this, and noticed a curious process in the task manager, in the top of them:


No name, but when I killed the process, the size of my file did not change anymore. So I copied the original ISTAGUI.EXE file (2973 KB) and when I started the program: sucess!

So I looked in the startup applications and saw this:


I have disabled the entry related to SVCHOST in startup tab.

Don't know what started this process, especially on a fresh installation of Windows, but I hope that this solution will help those who encounter the same problem.

To disable the svchost.exe isn't general a good idea. When you have opened the taskmanager and marked the service you want more information about you can just expand the view and make a right click on the process. There you can switch to the coresponding windows service and THEN you should decide wether to disabel or not   . But be careful. Disabling services can make your system going crazy.

In the list of current services, I have full SVCHOST services already started, so I guess I only block the one that bothers me.
Maybe there is a way to identify this process, but for now I'm going to use ISTA like this and see if everything is working normally.

Hm, that is strange. But anyway ... main thing is that your ISTA is up and running  .
