Thanks for the reply, unfortunately on pre-2018 Mini's there is no OTA functionality as there's no 4G sim in the vehicle...this is something I'd actually queried Mini on as the MiniConnected app never works properly either - this was the answer :-

As your MINI was built before 2018, you’ll have a 3G SIM instead of a 4G SIM. This means that you’ll need to connect your phone to your car using a USB and the app should then recognise your car however some of the features will be limited. This is another reason why your car cannot be added into your MINI Connected account.

In that case I think you just need to download the new map data onto a USB stick and enter the FSC when prompted.  FSC's are readily available on eBay or other online sources such as a thread on here where requests can be made.

is this map legit? My BMW official downloader still proposes me as Europe 2018-4 as latest map.
Why does it not propose me the 2019-1 if already available?
