Could you share the insides of your build too? I have a similar PSU - I have soldered 4x 6mm2 wires to each terminal which then goes to the main DC breaker-switch and current shunt. I have used 25mm2 wires to connect to the car - they are capable of safely putting up to 100A thru, whereas 16mm2 is safely good up to 75A only. Mine is very ugly, but it works very fine |

yes its 3d printed custom desing. its not easy to see but there are holes in the side to harness the built in fans so its nicely cooled without need of adding fans. i was looking in the phone but i dont have any photos disassembled. i am not using soldered connection but drill thru pcb, you have to be very careful since its multi layer pcb and isolate the layers in between. i am not using shunt, but hall effect ammeter, you just lead the wire thru the sensor, its very neat and saves a lot of space
i attach illustration of the ammeter. theres nothing to say about voltmeter, thats basic. |

After drilling holes i cleaned them fith knife so the layers are separated because after drilling the copper plates touch one another. and the bolts used to connect cables are isolated with a piece of rubber on the thread so thread cant contact layers, only from top and bottom. with the power supply I used the middle layers are negative so you need to do it on the positive side but just to be sure I did it on both. That is very good thing to do. I dont have it installed but I order it and add to the build. For now I just disconnect the power supply when starting. But even with diode the power supply will try to keep the constant voltage (14v) so it can very easily be overloaded so its best to disconect it anyway. |

RE: Which battery charger/power supply for coding and flashing?
I hope you got your answer already.
If not, here you go: The battery can provide maximum of 12.7 volts, which is already too low for flashing. This voltage drops quite quickly, as F-series car as an example is drawing 20 amps or more when ignition is turned on. During the flash this can grow even higher. See attached diagram. Make sure you get a power supply and not a battery charger. Any regulated power supply with 13.8V and 20 to 50 AMP should work.(BMW recommend 45 AMP) Make sure it is fused and you use the correct cable gage. For me, 30AM 6mm copper worked like charm. I hope this helps. |
