If you get it from the BMW TIS site then I believe you need to have a valid AOS/offline license like I mention before from DavyG as you will require the launcher with license loaded.

If you have the latest service data, I'm not overly sure what the need is to have the latest 4.38.xx software directly - some people are still using Sedoy's 4.32.1x which didn't require license for example!

I'm not sure either, but i just OCD about using the latest available.


Thanks.  For now, i'm getting through what i need to do with the AOS launcher for ISTA.  Unfortunately, ISTA version is 4.38.16, and it has version 520 S15A-22-11 i-level and not the version 530.

but programming works fine

just try and find out

or leave it like it is no need for the latest versions of programming data idk

Yep, that worked.  I can pull up the software update measures plan from ISTA 4.37.43 but now with programming data replaced with 4.38.30, i can see the i-level target of S15A-22-11-530 instead of S15A-22-07-550.

I'll also play with the ISTA launcher, but simply replacing the data_swi with newer did the trick.  The data folder looks to be a symlink in windows to the data_swi folder.

Yes, if you read sedoys posts you would know that it is a symlink in the later versions to save space.
When updating you’ll need to also update the BLP package , or create new symlinks

So it’s confirmed the AOS ISTA downloaded version can be updated with newer SDP/BLP data from this forum?

Is there any rason to have EDIABAS folder within ISTA or this is something from past times ? I'm trying to figure out PTT conncection via Scanmatic 2 PRO and not sure if this ediabas.ini should be modified as well (outside) of C:\EDIABAS ?

ISTA use our own Ediabas inside ISTA Installpath. This is original.

If you try to use any Tester with Ediabas settings then change ediabas.ini in our extra installed Ediabas.

Do you have any experience with BMW PTD?

If I got you correctly I should copy PTD files into X:/ISTA/EDIABAS and set it up for STD:PassThruD with ISTA in EDIABAS for connection. Think I gave it a try in past but not sure - will test it out.
