Hello mates,
I'd kindly need your help: I have got a china cable v.12.10 with software 12.10.3 beta. It worked fine for a couple of years (always on my netbook with WindowsXp pro sp3 with wifi off + Avira AV always disabled and pc-time always set to April 1st,2013). Unfortunately, recently I have probably forgotten for some minutes my wifi on and now I always get the here attached error: "not plugged into car" warning message.
I also first noticed before this warning an odd behaviour during vcds connection to the car: initially it started giving me for more than a couple of time a "failure to communicate" error but after some attempts it started working fine receiving data from the car (ECU) but now I always have the "not plugged into car" message.
I have also to tell you that this cable since the beginning never did a complete auto-scan of my car modules but it worked by checking the individual modules... I do not know if this was also regular ?!?
Please also note that when I now connect the cable to my VW car the led turns on (green color) but if I only connect the cable to the netbook the led is off (no red or green color) though the cable appears as "Ross-Tech direct usb interface" with driver version 2.8.14.0 on device manager, is it normal?
Moreover, if I give a look to the its hardware properties, I found out the following:USB\VID_0403&PID_FA24&REV_0600
When vcds was working fine and I used to try the test button, I always got back a message similar to this one I found on the internet and here as attached picture, stating that everything was good. Now it isn't!
Any highly appreciated suggestion to fix and restore my cable?

PS: just FYI, I will also find here as attached images both sides of the PCB of my "china" cable.

I advise you to buy another one... if you want to buy one .. i can tell you where to buy it ... you don't have to change your computer time... and its never get locked even you are using your wifi ... just you need to pay about 20$ for the cable

I want just to clarify that on device manager the cable is already correctly recognized as "Ross-Tech direct usb interface" with driver version 2.8.14.0 and when I run the software 12.10.3 Beta the license status is valid/activated (green color).
Only when I make the test with the cable connected to the car, I got back the message "not plugged into car" (pc-date correctly setup to 1st April 2013 and antivirus disabled).

Yes com port (usb selected as usual)set correctly and tried with two computers.
in my opinion Something has happened during wifi was unfortunately on. It seems almost everything okay but always same warning message "not plugged into car".

You will have to reprogram the cable, has a program in the forum, try to find him

2) vers 6 11.11.5-12.12.0_eeprom 512 rl.hex
3) set security bits
4) installed VCDS-Release-12.12.0-Installer English 512bits.exe
Now, when I run VCDS 12.12.0 English and I simulate a connection giving Volts to LM7805 cable ( no yet connected to my car VW 2006), the result is as below:

Usb driver version: 02-06-01
Interface:found!
Type: Ross-Tech HEX-USB+CAN
Version:1.92

What about the "CAN: not ready"..it sounds not good and I know it has to be "CAN: OK" as well!

No wory for this can not ready, when you conect it to your 2006 vw shoud say can ready couse you just gave it power suply, same woud be whit vw car until around 2004...
That is all ok but bare in mind that 12.12 version can not do long coding, for that you use 11.11.5 version form I belive same source...

Well I will replay to you here because we do not have anything to hide and you do not need to send me PM's all the time for the same think that you share here
Fiorst step that you have to do is to remove the R51 ( I saw this rezistence soldered in your hardware )
The you said that you did this and tdid that but please tell us what exaclly you are doing?
What programmer you are using, what software you use to flash the Atmega
You said that you set the Fuse bits but you didn't tell us what fuse bits did you use it
Please share pics with fuse bit set it
Ask Mr. Mladen76 how he did first time. He if he rememebr he said as you now that he set well the fuse bits in the Extream Burner software and after I took a look in his compouter he realized where he did wrong
Now i do not help anyone like I did with him in that time. Now I only can give you advises and tips if I want. So share pics adn tell us step by step how you did.

What power supply did you use? 5V or 12V?
Where you plugg the power supply?
Did you solder together the power supply GND with the programmer GND?
I ask you all of this to figure it out what you do there exaclly.
Even you think that you did all the steps as at the book but maybe you forget anything and thats why you cannot flash the Atmaga. Or Atmega could be blocked. who knows
As you could see in Mr. Fantomel collection he said there 512b words firmware but actually there is only 256b words firmware. So if you di a wrong step and you set the fuse bits for 512b words firmware then of course that your Atemega it is not flashed well
