Not able to reset EGS ISN using CGDI / E61
Hello guys, a bit complicate story with an E61 M57 EDC16CP35
Car came with a defective ECU, tried to read out old data without success. Read out CAS Data to copy CAS ISN to DME -> Car started but wouldnt engage a gear; DTC; Gearbox immobilizer locked Used CGDI to reset isn, now CGDI doesnt read any ISN (Which is good because its cleared) but it wont adapt neither. Before it did read an ISN and I used it to reset it. Is there anything else I can try ? Car is starting and everything else works fine. CGDI wont do another reset because it sees the EGS as virginized but DTC still stays. Any ideas ? |

Very strange that E6x EGS has ISN lock. Did you checked CAS? Does it have EGS ISN lock?

its not that strange, afaik after 03/07 (new gear knob) all e60 gearboxes have isn inside......
please try to hard reset egs and cas unit and cycle ignition switch......... |

only E70 has isn on 6HP. reason why isn can appear is messing with CAS

CAS was never modified, only reason I took it off was to get ISN for DME. So the CAs is original I mean I could be wrong, maybe someone messed before with the CAS. But then I’m out of ideas how I’m gonna fїж that. |

You can open original EDC16CP35 and read eeprom with programmer, ISN is inside.
