XZBMW  How to register 100Amp battery on E61
Folks,

I'm newbie into all of this DIY BMW stuff, so please don't beat me too hard smile

I've decided to replace 8yrs old bat on E61 ( 530xd ) and bought Varta 100Amp lead-acid one ( yep, should have googled in advance but... ). I went to Rheingold to register it however saw that my previous one was 90Amp and AGM type. Rheingold said to change it in ISTA-P however there is no 100Amp version in it and also when I connect my external battery charger, voltage is below 13V so ISTA-P complains.

The most obvious answer would be "go and get yourself 90Amp AGM". Given the circumstances what's the best way to do with the 100Amp non-AGM one ? Will registering it as 90Amp AGM do serious damage ? Shall I try to change type to 90Amp non-AGM type via ISTA-P with modded .dll ( so that ISTA wont' complain about <13V ) ?

My ultimate goal is to get either 90Amp AGM or 110Amp AGM so basically I'm looking for a solution for, let's say, 1 week only.

thanks in advance!

Searching this forum did not return anything related to 100A other than my post so I still don't know what VO is for 100Ah...if it even exist. But thanks anyway.

So you changed it to 110Ah one and is it running ok ? How long do you have it like that ?

RE: How to register 100Amp battery on E61
I think the correct way to register "not supported" battery sizes are to code the closest value below what you actually have. So if its a 100Ah battery, you code 90.

This is what Ive been told by BMW techs as well, but i cant say for sure i know what the pros and cons are by doing it this way.

RE: How to register 100Amp battery on E61
You won't have any issues in that short time.
You also could register a 105 AH battery but use a 70 AH one and you would not have any issues.

You will find out in a year

Hit Thanks and Reputation button if this post helped you.

Nice that someone understands this. Can you confirm my previous post? Or is that wrong information I've been given
