Is it possible to program DDE 4.0 in E39 by WinKFP using ICOM? Some time ago I tried to program it using DCAN (WinKFP), but it failed every time, then helped programming with DIS V44/V57.

Yes, you can use it, but you must make anothe setting in .ini files and you need itool radar.
K-DCAN interface work very good with WinKfp, I use it many time without a problem, maybe you have another issue with it.
Use Icom with Ista/P expert mode to single module to programming.

Not exactly, DDE 5.0 nad different ECUs were ok while programming with DCAN using WinKFP but DDE 4.0 programming wasn't ok with WinKFP, just with DIS

Ok i have ICOM configured in ediabas and I have ISTAP Expert mode, but the question is if DDE 40 could be programmed without problems using WinKFP and ICOM?

I found WinKFP would erase the data area, and then it would tell me there was an error.
The data flash could be reloaded with any tuning tool though.

I believe there are some configuration settings that might need to be changed to get WinKFP to work, or maybe just use ISTA/P and ICOM.

Adjust com-port timing and make sure you run obd.exe and configure correctly edibas.ini (timing and port)
also make sure you have your external power supply plug-in
There is a thread on this forum for correct timing settings on older cars in edibas.ini for USB-Like cables

Next question is how to update E46/E39 etc. with ISTAP? My ISTAP 3.57.4 doesnt recognize updates, when i connect car i don't see updates, do I have to put ZUSB numbers manually? How to do that. Newer cars updates are OK.

I think all updates are there, but for that car there is EGS and DME/DDE(ECU) modules only what are possible update. And if those are latest, then nothing to update. Latest updates for that E39 was about 2004....

I wonder why you wanna mess up with WinKFP if you have ISTA-P and ICOM to take care all programming?!!

But i asked for it because some time ago, when i used DCAN i tried to update DDE40 and then WinKFP erased ECU and didn't want to program it. After that helped DIS which programmed ECU correctly.

Now I use ICOM and I don't want to try programming, because if something go wrong I don't have DIS now.

WinKFP works with ICOM too. In ISTA-P no need put any info for programming. When you are modules view(control unit tree), click action list- tab and there control unit information -tab. There you can see default software and newest available software etc.

What power supply you use with BMW when do this?
