Let me explain you why: SERVERS must run 24/7/365 on these PSUs for years my friend. They are using TOP components for these units so they can not fail to soon. I really doubt that a brand name automotive dedicated PSU will be able to survive at this regime. About the price (and your approach) for this issue, try to think again. These server units was THOUSANDS of dollars when they were made for those servers. The fact that now you can get them for bloody low prices is that they are obsolete now because the computer technology evolution was at a much faster speed than automotive industry. Now, you will tell me that they are used Wrong again Some are, indeed. Those are sold for 10-20 USD. But others are kept in storage as spares or because of overproduction, so basically they are brand new units ready to run PERFECT for many years from now on. (these are sold for 30-40USD). Anyway, don't worry about us with DIY projects and enjoy your brand name PSU the same as us enjoy ours (of course with some extra money in our pockets). Cheers |
