XZBMW  BMW CIC E90 flash gone wrong
Hello,

please help me out on this issue I have.

I have tried to update a CIC unit with WinKFP. The procedure was right, as I did it once before with success. But this time, the CIC got stuck in black screen with fan running and was unable to get it to update once more with WinKFP and ISTA/P. After executing steuergaeret_reset on CIC with Tool32, the MOST connection died (there is no laser to be seen) and the CIC can no longer be seen in ISTA/D.

I was thinking about removing the HDD and cloning it with a working clone image. But after some research, I found out that the CIC also has flash memory in the motherboard, which could also got corrupted.

What do you think are the chances to fix this CIC with HDD cloning?

RE: BMW CIC E90 flash gone wrong
The HDD just holds data.
A normal working CIC will boot without a HDD, just won't have navigation, music or phone book so there is no point in cloning a HDD.

RE: BMW CIC E90 flash gone wrong
Yes, I did use ICOM. As said, I have already done a successful update once, but this time, it just crashed.
Are there any procedures to repair the flash memory?

RE: BMW CIC E90 flash gone wrong
I dont have experience with that type of situation
but personally i think you bricked without chanche to restore it , only way to do it buy empty chips or epproms and using programmer write from donor dump , thats seems a big trouble
maybe try to use emergency flash tool which comes with winkpf

63, but the main problem is, that there is no laser to be seen on the MOST

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you maybe have a backup of the Gateway memory?
