So this is the last explanation regarding this.
If your tool is in HQ clone mode then you can make a backup with OCFlash and yo can use the File to Device to flash it back
Its actually an illusion. Nothing happend in fact
But if a mistake as you said your tool its not in HQ clone mode then if you se the backup ocfd you will not be able to restore the tool to HQ clone mode
MProg cannot flash any ept file if the FTDI is in HQ clone mode
Only if the vid/pid is 0403/0000 as I rememeber.
If you want to keep my words in your mind that this will help you
Otherwise you cost nothing to make a ocfd backup. Its you choise
Bt all you have to do its to keep the FTDI in HQ clone mode and you will be safe
Good luck
For God sake, stop spamming nonsense about special HQ clone mode and make it a mystery as it is something special.
It's only 2 bytes related to your FTDIchipID written in user space (bytes 0x62 and 0x63 in earlier versions - Romanian clone and 0x64 0x65 in later ones) and B2 instead of V2 in product description. Otherwise it is just the plain old China clone.
One can certainly bypass that "protection" by brute force just by trying all 65k possibilities for those 2 bytes. It only takes a batch script and small FTDI user space enabled write program (there are even official examples of how to make it on FTDI web site).

If one has actual ocfd dump and knows FTDIchipID of an HQ clone, one can flash that ocfd dump on new device and fake FTDIchipID with OPCOMFUT to be the same as in HQ clone. Then Chinese clone becomes HQ clone.
