i have same problem connection on F series by ISTA-D . Ista-P will connect correctly . ICOM A2

ICOM-A2 Real, the "fake"? Original or clone?

There are A2 Clone, which only have A2 is the outer box, the inside is an A1 and are identified as A1, not A2 ..

Check it out ... there may be your problem

Yes, that is definitely the best and safest way!!

I have had the same problem and it was solved with latest firmware on icom.
