Hi everyone I have a 2012 BMW F10 M5 USA. A shop has determined that the DME/DDE Has failed to send spark to cylinder #4.

I have purchased a DME used on Ebay. It has a VIN Number from another car in it.

Can someone guide me on how to replace this unit?

I have ENET and ISTA-P working on my laptop, is this software ok to replace this unit?

Is their any other way to do this?

No you cannot do this with any dealer software. You need third party DME cloning tools or EEPROM readers to do this because of the CAS - DME rolling codes, which is if i remember correctly, pretty heavily encrypted in these DMEs.

ok that's what I thought because it just wouldn't work with this ISTA-P. Even when I tried to process "Replace Control Unit" it did not recognize that I installed the used DME.


If you or someone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. this customer is been waiting 4+ months...long story

I have seen Autohex II from Microtech but it looks like I need to buy a 2300.00 ICOM connector. I do not have that money. I paid 399.00for the used DME.

You need buy ktag, i think then you can clone this ecu. Ktag can read mpc and eeprom.

you can use easy by OBD with Autohex Bmw explorer
Just read out isn from old end write to used

That BMW EXPLORER is out of my budget.

I did contact someone to come locally here in the US, and he arrived with ABRITES & FVDI V2015 via ENET connected and the unit took a shit exactly when we called up the ECU's!!! What a disappointment
It Just lost connection to the FVDI, he tried everything Firmware updates Software updates for hours and nothing.

SO I am on a mission this must be rectified ASAP... can some one connect Remotely???

I know someone on this forum has the skills!!!

which cylinder is misfiring as in what?the spark plug or the injector?have had quite a few of these and rectified them without replacing the DME.

So the car wouldn’t start and we figured out it was the Camshaft Position Sensor. Once we replaced it, car started right up ....then Coil # 4 first one on the passenger side closer to the firewall caught on fire !

We replaced the coil and spark plug w brand new ones and then no spark from the DME CAN Line from the DME to the coil.

if you can send me a picture of the inside of the ECU ,i can show you what to deal with and sort your problen.is it a 6 cylinder or 4?
