F11 lower rear axle
I'm trying to lower the rear axle of a F11 pre-lci. I use Ista but it doesn't do what it should be.
The car has 20"inch rims and I selected 20"inch. The front has been lowered 20 mm with springs. Ista gives the following: front axle: 657 mm rear axle: 655 mm When I change the rear axle to 675 mm it does lower it a little but there is a difference between left and right rear axle The first 2 times it did save the values after that it doesn't save them anymore. What is the right procedure to lower it? It should be easier than this. MGU virgin and patching in Europa.

RE: F11 lower rear axle
Hi,
Normally best way is measure current height and add the mm you want to lower it. In case you are lost put actual values and drive a short distance. After driving try to lower it again and drive a short distance. |

RE: F11 lower rear axle
The procedure is correct.
You may use real mesure, but the trick is to add the mm you want to lower. I never get the desired height at first, and sometimes there are diferences between sides. you need to repeat procedure, and turn on and off car between them, or even better, as Larshutten write, drive a little. |

RE: F11 lower rear axle
Hi
If you actually look through the repair instructions in ISTA it gives you a wealth of information as to how exactly the system works, when it settles, the deviations because of temperature, how much time the car takes to level out, etc.. Most important for an exact calibration is a completely flat and level surface, closed doors & trunk is mandatory & cold (ambient), temperature of the air inside the compressed air spring system (compressor, bottle, lines, control unit, air springs), if calibrations is done with hot air (driving long distance) the independently filled managed springs height can deviate quite sharply after cooling down. I've found that after doing the calibration I must drive a little (very little), lock the car & wait an hour or so before remeasuring. The system is very sensitive to the surface (uneven, bumpy, inclined) & temperature. |

RE: F11 lower rear axle
So I tried a couple of things and even with ista+ it won't accept any value.
I lowered the car a couple of days ago and it is now too low so I must go up a little bit. MGU virgin and patching in Europa.

Ista will not allow you to input values or that even after carrying out correctly the height calibration routine through Ista the car won't react to the procedure? BR |

RE: F11 lower rear axle
I succeeded when I raised it up first, then set it to the desired low level. Try that.

It says it will save the new value in the icm and then it gives an error "can't save them". MGU virgin and patching in Europa.

RE: F11 lower rear axle
Issue solved and car is lowered.
What exactly caused the error is unknown. After setting the values close to factory spec and waiting a day between any change all entered values where accepted. MGU virgin and patching in Europa.
