Can DME MSV80 replace MSV80.1?
I need to replace X3 vin WG57024 dme by cloning it. I have seen on sale a msv80, not msv 80.1. Question, can i clone the msv80.1 into an nsv80? Are they compatible?
I dont have ews isn tools so my options are limited to cloning with ktag. |

No, hardware is different between the two.
I don't think you'll have success cloning msv80.0 with ktag because of a technical issue with the hardware setup. |

Thanks, so my option is to figure how to alter isn in the dme. The tool i have requires soldering on 3 resistors and shifting two chips to alternate location to enable read write. Too much work but may be my only chance

Too much work but may be my only chance That's the technical thing I mentioned above. I guess this is Auto Explorer. It's actually 2 chips and 1 tiny resistor if I remember correctly. I have done dozens of these. It's tough. MSV80.1 has those chips there already, so only resistors are needed. KTAG didn't even bother with MSV80, as far as I know. |

Are you sure of this? There are different hardware IDs, some differences in wiring, and different flash firmware. So cloning is completely out.
In my region, the MSV80.1 were used for the super ultra low emissions engines, which had extra sensors and ran differently. Putting an MSV80.1 on an MSV80 vehicle and vice versa resulted in a crazy amount of codes. |

As long as "some" wires are different then it just wont work. I did look through the parts catalogue. No where are they the same. I think I must get the exact fit. |
