XZBMW  i3 Voltage Converter NBT EVO retrofit
Hey everyone, so I am currently trying to retrofit an NBT EVO into an i3 but are in the need of a voltage converter due to the APIX1 APIX2 Voltage difference. So I know that the voltage needs to be around 8.4 V in order for it to work but for some reason I am not able to change to change the voltage. It constantly reads the 12.4V. In the image attached, you can see my attempt at a voltage converter. Basically what I did was the out wires that you see, replace the 2 pins on the NBT display plug and those original wires go into the pins on the right. I would appreciate any help and/or guidance cause I'm pretty lost. Thanks!

P.S.: reason I did not just buy one is because the NBT is at the back of the car on the i3 and I havent seen a premade voltage regulator that long.

If voltage is constantly 12v that means input and output voltage are in a serial connection
You need to cut off the wires on the CID cable and install the voltage regulator to act as a bridge.

RE: i3 Voltage Converter NBT EVO retrofit
did you even try to reduce the voltage by rotating the golden screw on the top of the blue potentiometer ? ( asking this because you didn't mention that you have done that ).

those potentiometer are 100 turns type , which means you need to rotate a lot of turn in order to see little change in the output voltage , if you hear little click at every turn that means you are the last turn and try to turn to the other direction .

RE: i3 Voltage Converter NBT EVO retrofit
You have used the same voltage converter as me with almost the same method by adding a plug and not cutting the wires. It’s simple to install, disconnect the plug from the screen and the head unit. Working at the head unit end remove the positive and ground wires from the APIX plug, insert your positive and ground wires that go into the IN side of the converter into the APIX plug. Then connect the original wires that were in the APIX plug to the plug you made. Then the OUT side of the converter is connected to these pins on the other part of your plug. Turn on HU without it plugged into screen still, rotate bronze screw until it reads 8.4v on the out voltage. Connect to screen, FDL code if required. Shrink tube/tape/cover the converter and you’re done. Obviously check the screen works first.

I don't know much, but if I've helped you're welcome.
