XZBMW  E89 kombi flash fail
Hi, 

I have an E89 Z4 that has kombi stuck in programming mode after failed update. Kombi is DKOML2 9242397 zb 9242387. The kombi responds in Ista and ista/p but fails to flash. Also winkfp fails. I think hardware number is corrupt. Any way to recover this kombi?

Kombi was flashed using Icom next.

Try NFS Emergency Flash. It should put atleast some kind of Software on it. Then you should be able to Flash it with ISTA.

E-series (like the E89) cannot use E-Sys for flashing. WinKFP (including the NFS tool) is the right choice.

Sorry my bad. Meant ISTA... But typed esys. I would rather recommend to use ISTA since WIN KFP is a b*tch sometimes wink

I get same error with nfs emergency flash, see attached. I think bmw hw number is corrupt, anyway to re write this? Eeprom maybe?

HW number is stored into EEPROM (9.242.397).

Try to flash after re-writing EEPROM with attached file.

What diagnosis protocol to use with winkfp?
First try to comfort mode, and read UIF, if not succes change protol to kwp2000
If succes read uif and then try to reflash
