Hi. Sure, if it a vl381 transmission, can be repair the control unit. It's a common issue on this.

If it is S-Tronic, It can be a faulty position sensor, but very common is coolant in ECU connector on the body of gearbox. There It causes short and ECU can be faulty after that. So, 1st of all I'll start with clean of that connector or replacing it in case of deep corrosion. If cleaning or replacing that connector will not resolve your issue, so ECU of the gearbox can be faulty. If you'll cleaning, don't forget to reseal that connector to prevent coolant get into it.
