Best solution for start-stop is an aftermarket cable between button and car harness (plug and play). Will remember your last pressed command.
Or you could deactivate with vcds or vcp, are a lot of tutorials on youtube, just search.
For VIM, VCP or mib2toolbox (for vw works for sure, on audi never tried)

VCP .VVDI2 SVCI2and autel and lonsdor plus SBB and T300  might get most done .. so need to invest a bit more m8

When comes about $$, sky is the limit. For a home user, VCDS will do, it's a must have tool for a VAG owner.
Mib2 toolbox is free.

I have vvdi2, i have keytool pad, last vcds.. i think i will buy svci6154a to use with odis, and odis online to make component protect online ... and rest of coding
