Do you have any proof of that on recent (like released in the last 2 years) ISTA versions? I remember there was an issue with that years ago, but then ISTA notes said ISTA was fixed to avoid that.

Of course if you are working without power supply it can die even from starting a car if battery is not very good and voltage dips too much.

Ok but why then the BMW garage is useing it for all of their vehicles ?
If this would happen so often then i would expect from BMW that they fix their software. I mean who is paying the broken FRM ? The customer ?

The dealership uses a numerous amount of programs to do their jobs. But i agree, they either fixed it already or it is not as recognized of a problem.

Of course they use numerous like for accounting, CRM, etc. But for diagnosis they use ISTA+ only. And I think this dying thing is quite overrated. I worked on many cars with FRM3, but had exactly 1 with dead FRM3, and it already arrived to me in that state (and maybe 1 more where owner called, but never arrived). Of course I'm usually flashing FRM3 to last software version while they are still alive.

Hello,

many FRM3 die when diagnosed in the BMW dealership with ISTA.

The BMW dealer uses ISTA and not ISTA+, he cannot edit the configuration at all.

Many dealers use a form that the customer has to pay for any damage to the control units.

The problem was only solved with the latest FRM3 firmware.

RE: Battery register coding
Hi,

Where can I check which FRM3 firmware is the latest?
Just use WinKFP for flashing FRM3 to latest ZUSB number with SPdaten v69?

can you show us the release notes for the fix? never heard of that before. i was under the impression that the flash memory was defective on these units.

even updating the software on them was not a fix as they still happened again sometimes.
