The ept file for FTDI232RL in chinese tools it is allmost the same
You can try with the ept file that has the VID/PID 0403/FA24 or you can change it with VID/PID 0403/FA30
One of this ept file will work for sure

Hello all,
I have an VCDS 12.12.0 interface with FT232RL, ATMEGA162V, MCP2551, MCP2515 without GAL/ATF which is not working. Has been recognized as Ross-Tech interface, but VAG-COM says that is not connected to the car. I know that i have problems with the firmware from controller.
I searched in all possible places to find a solution to repair my VCDS 12.12.0 interface but no succes !
Does anyone have a solution or I should throw it away ?

Hi guys, i received my lead today but the disk was damaged that has the software on it..not a great start at all...i have attached photos, can anyone help with the correct software as i am now worried i will download the wrong thing.

@matty could you please check if i have bad clone unit for me buddy,looks like i have same one everyone has problems withsad

Hi
First of all as i see this tool it hasn't Atmega MCU
It has NEC ( chinese ) MCU
This will be imposible to flash it if you'll erase it
Then it has no GAL/ATF and no power supply regulator 7805
In my opinion this tool is the worst ( i told you this by PM too )
And you need to connect it to the USB and to the car if you wanna do an interface test
Not only plugged into the USB
I will check if I had in my stuff the software for this kind of tool ( because I had one in my hands for tests )

Thankyou mattydr67 for your time, i got the pm too thanks, i cant test on car till later in the week as its far to go and its where my car broke down.

I wont erase or connect to internet my tool.

I may need to get a new tool if mine is worst.i agree as i see lots of people with problems but i will try with my car

If you'll keep the internet connection turned off ever you'll keep the tool working
Othetwise you'll have to know thst this tool cannot be reflashed

Hello

I also ordered Chinese version of VCDS 12.12.0 and i would like to know if this is a bad unit or what i can do with it. In the software manual it says that i have to turn back computer time to 2013 and also i need to disconnect internet. Mostly i would like to know if i can easily brick this unit if connected to internet or not. Is this one reflashable and fixable? Thank you very much and i will post some photos of my tool right here. As i can see this one has Atmega 162, MCP2515, FT232RL, L7805CV (5v regulator).

This is a hardware without GAL/ATF ( no dual k-line supported but maybe this is not a problem )
The software you said that it is teh one that it is using a bat file that will remaind you to turn the internet connection off and change the computer date
One thing for you.
VCDS 12.12.0 it is a release version and for this software you do not need to change the computer date bacause it hasn't a time limit as Beta's version
To change the computer back it is because now will appear when start the software the message the anounce you that there's a new version released and you can try to upgrade it. So in this case you can erase the license from Atmega
To turn the internet connection off. I can say that you need to not turn on the internet in that computer ever. The ross-tech servers can check you license when you have the internet connection turned on and the VCDS software installed and activated in your computer even you haven;t the tool plugged to the USB and car. It can change the licese in the software and when you'll plugg the tool even you'll have the internet connection turned on your license will be erased.
The serial in this tool it was banned for a long time 9 actually imediatlly when the clones of this version was released.
To be sure that you'll not have any problem you can install the software in computer that will haven't any internet connection turned on ever.
Chinese do not make tools with not banned serial anb with internet protection becasue they will not sell their stuff anymore in very short time.
And the tools that cannot be erased are not made in china and not cheap.

Hello!

Another disadvantage of your cable (additionally what Matty said yet) that the SI9241-AEY bus transceivers on the 2 k-lines are replaced with transitors. The experiences with this construction that it can be produce often communication errors when K-Lines are used.

Generally this types of cables (i speak here only about the HW and not about the modified SW) without GAL and without bus transceivers works good on OBD protocol but can be instables on KKL.

You should be kidding about those transceivers smile
How many clones have you seen using those ?
99,99 % of them are using transistors.
I know those SI transceivers are better but let's be REAL.
