BMW DME flash via OBD
Ok I'm going to be the stupid question guy for the day so bear with me. On BMW's after 2019 update were locked from flashing via OBD ... ie require bench unlock to allow tuning again. Supposedly this also prevents downgrading to previous boot loader. The questions I have are why/how can E-Sys and ISTA update the software via the OBD port with tools like ICOM? What's the difference?
