"What's new - Secure communication" - "This is intended to prevent the manipulation of communication between the control units in the vehicle"...

Could this translate to potential issues with coding/tuning/flashing via ESys? Or am I misinterpreting? I can't find anything that talks about this in more detail...

No. This is about IPSEC certs.
