In other news what’s the benefits/changes to updating the vc firmware. I’m on 0153 from factory and wondered if there are any benefits to attempting the update?

There are some bugfixes inside, but your firmware is nearly new.
In an Audi TSB - firmware for 01xx applies to some model years and firmwares starting with 02xx to another model years. In the TSB there is a fix for a problem, and for both versions 01xx / 02xx there are different part numbers for the update media card. So newest will be something between 0155/0156/0157 depending on your car. If my answer helped to fix anything, then don't forget to give me some rep please!
