Comfort access module causes ews error E90 Msd81.2
First time I have encountered a strange scenario. Comfort access module results in dead car, no terminal 15 and dme ews error. Its E90 msd dme. Disconnected it and all good. Strange

RE: Comfort access module causes ews error E90 Msd81.2
Why??? CA is connected to the SAME BUS_PA where CAS-DME exchange EWS data. Dead CA can short that bus out. Nothing strange AT ALL. Also one of quite common failures due to CA unit being hung due to door handles being shorted due to moisture.

P.S. Now if CA unit is dead by itself, that would be a bit stranger. But I'm almost sure you have one of the door handles shorted out, NOT the CA unit.

That's exactly what I've been through here in Brazil with many cars, especially the E series, but these days there was this problem on an m5 F10 2013, problems with current consumption getting very close to an ampere and problems closing the vehicle with remote control in this case the vehicle connected everything and without failures (faults) in the ISTA related to the antennas of the door handles.
But the abnormal electrical current consumption and problems closing the vehicle was in one of the four antennas exactly on the left rear door.
A good way to find the problem right away when the vehicle is dead and the comfort system is on is to leave the vehicle with a good battery and after a not too long period is examining all door handles for a high temperature and a very strong smell this indicates that door handle has a short circuit.
I have already found defective door handles that do not store fault codes in the ISTA system, but there was also a problem that there was a fault code in the ISTA system.
THIS IS MORE COMMON THAN YOU IMAGINE. THE CAUSE OF THE VEHICLE BEING DEAD IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND, YOU JUST NEED TO MAKE A SMALL ANALYSIS OF THE ELECTRICAL DIAGRAM OF THE COMFORT ACCESS SYSTEM INCLUDING DATA COMMUNICATION

In E9x series allmost ALL CA modules will die in one day.
I have removed quite few of them keeping in mind that this feature was not so popular at that time.
Naturally it should be replaced with new one, but my customers usually will live without it.
And yes, it stucks ELV (one BMW dealer diagnosed car having failured ELV and replaced it, not searching actual fail at all...)

one of the most common issues with BMW is the CA. not surprising at all. worse ones blow the fuse which is shared with the DSC module.

And big problem for sure
In the X6 series E71 blows the fuse that shares with the audio amplifier

This CA module could make someone run around for ages trying to find the problem with CAS and DME ignition and synchronization!! Good to note for future reference.
