actually many people including me do CIC-NBT-EVO coding with E-series retrofit over Ethernet, I personally do always Ethernet to OBD2 harness for headache free coding for the owners.

Not true. It's possible to connect to the EVO with OABR to Ethernet cable. You will need to connect to gateway in E-Sys.

Gateway you mean 169.254.199.99:6801 ?
I did it many times but still not luck, can’t see nbt2 in esys.
Bench wiring has can wakeup also zgw1 (try to learn, please dont ask me to change/up to zgw2 - i know this way will 100% see nbt2)

OK. A lot of time has passed, but I’ll write. Everything is simple here! NBT2 can indeed be encoded without ZGW by connecting via OABR directly .199.99. However, it must be woken up by applying a 12F signal to CAN2. Everything will work. However, only for coding. When flashing the firmware, NBT2 will still request ZGW(

Purchased this ethernet-oabr cable, i want to try coding nbt evo onbech without zgw.

Laptop set static ip 169.254.199.100 | 255.255.0.0;
Esys connect tcp://169.254.199.99:6801

I can ping 169.254.199.99

But can not see nbt2 ecu on esys, please correct what im wrong.

Thank you.

You Need Wake-up emulation on KCan2 and ID is required to wake up NBT2 (not ZGW wake-up emulation) because in this case there is no ZGW.
