When the engine is started, the diagnosis is lost BMW E39 530d OBD II
Hallo
I have a problem with my e39 530d 2000/12 , suddenly a problem appeared when I start the engine, I lose communication, checked on the D-can and icom cable. Pin 1 and 16 are powered ok . Pin 4 and 5 are ground ok. What could be the problem? |

check to see if the voltage drops during startup and if it doesn't drop, what volts does it drop to

maybe a problem with your laptop, unplug usb and try again with engine running

The early models such as the e39, e46 with iCOM or ODB cable lost communication when start the engine during diagnosis "ISTA or INPA". The e90 is working fine for me.

what do you mean you loose communication?
You can communicate with all control units before starting vehicle and after starting engine, loose all communication with all control units or just some control units? What version is your ISTA, ICOM (Genuine or Chinese) and what ICOM firmware? Have you tried VirtualGT1 to see if the same problem exists? |

Do you have aftermarket HID or CREE LED on the car? It might give interference on K-Line. Even poor quality phone charger or dash cam might give such problems.
