RE: E84 - 2010 - Faulty gateway?!
Thank you so much for that explanation.
Guess I’ll have to buy a new FRM3, for it! |

Manage to get other FRM3 to try in the car, and the car won't start anyway.

Now you should read faults and see what is the problem.

(10-01-2024, 13:08 PM)Node Wrote: You are not able to connect to any unit because ALL diag comms in E84 are going through FRM3. FRM3 are known to die due to EEPROM emulation faults. So clearly old FRM3 developed this issue and new one was one the verge of the issue. So it died during firmware update. Just accept it, it happens. If you would have done just coding, it would have died EITHER. With no fault of yours. Hi, Really? I have many E84 without com with FRM3 and could diagnose car and others modules. Maybe you are thinking aboute jbbe? If I helped, please magic buttons thx+rep

Crap, I mixed JBE (junction box electronics) and FRM3. Sorry. Most probably your JBE is dead Too tired today...
P.S. Have you tried battery reset? |

Not yet.
Right now the battery has been disconnected, to see if ZGM reset and restarts communications |

RE: E84 - 2010 - Faulty gateway?!
You should always install the latest part number available for the FRM. The older FRM3 modules will continue to fail even after bench repairs.
The used FRM3 will have the wrong vehicle order and wrong factory I-STEP level. When you use ISTA/p to program and encode it, leave it disconnected before starting the session, reject the special measures plan to reanimate the control unit. Then calculate measures plan and when prompted for vehicle modification, plug in the used FRM and continue the measures plan. Accept the new measures plan to continue programming. ISTA/p uses the vehicle order from the FRM to calculate measures plan and the Factory I-Step. When it is left disconnected it will use the CAS vehicle order and factory i-step If your JBE failed programming, you can usually recover it with WINKFP from the BMW standard tools. Read out the UIF of the JBE to determine the correct program. |

RE: E84 - 2010 - Faulty gateway?!
So with the help of user FX82(who I can’t thank enough), we were able to program everything and the car can start again!
There are still errors related to the DSC module, which I’ll have to figure it out, as I have ABS and Steering wheel warning lights on dashboard! And the FRM still doesn’t communicate with Eletric Side Mirrors… Any thoughts on this? Btw let me say that I trully appreciate this forum users! You guys rock! |

RE: E84 - 2010 - Faulty gateway?!
Have you followed advice of BMchicago?
If not your FRM I step will be different than CAS. This usually causes problems when trying to use ISTA/P. Mirrors may not work if FRM is not coded correctly. Has the used FRM been coded yet? |

RE: E84 - 2010 - Faulty gateway?!
Well I can code FRM3 again with WinKFP and NCSExpert.
Can the FRM mess with DSC module? |
