RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
It looks like an error in configuration of ISTA-P/STD Tools, it would be worth posting the the setup you have now installed

ISTA version, whether using an ICOM etc, I assume new session was established into the bike & prompted for Injector/Fuel type ?

RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
OK, understood re set up, since the session started & was able to read ECU correctly, read/clear fault codes all should have been plain sailing from there, I am unsure re the CO API fault code details, will have to look it up unleass someone else can chime in

I assume you have Brand selections set & cant recall if you had checked firmware version in the ICOM

RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
I think the firmware in the ICOM is OK as I had a couple of E46's close by and I managed to upgrade the engine pcm software on them both just as a tester, Yes had the correct brand selected, could it be poss that the software needed for the update is not in the ISTA folder on the computer ?

RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
Yes it would be possible for the firmware not to be in the data directories however the scripts to ID the right update version is there as it shows it on screen as the version to program into the BMSC, the pop up dialogue boxes to select Injector/Fuel are not normal for other ECUs so perhaps a missing prerequisite but I doubt that

It is the "fault in the encoding process description file" which perhaps suggests a corrupt file of missing system routine

In the last pic I notice 0V on Terminal 15 & only 12.56 on Terminal 30 so no recognition of ignition on & less than 14v which is needed

The 0v was not the problem, the switched on the adapter was not switch on, when it was ready to program both was above the 13 volts that it needed

If it is a corrupt file of missing system routine, whats the bet way forward, reload or load a later version of ISTA  ?
