Hello,

I'm a new owner of a M550d MY2020 (G31) and think about adding 2 additional leds under the front seats to iluminate the rear footwell (similarly to the front footwell).

I assume, that do to the fact, that ambient lighting in G30 is LIN controlled its not just splicing wires as it was in my wifes F20.

Is it generally possible to add an additional ambient light in the LIN "row/sequence"?
Where and how it has to be coded that the LIN master knows the new order of ambient lights?

IMHO no way...at least for LIN controlled (multicolor) light, however, you can search for possible solutions(one color only) on F15 wiring for rear footwell light / A258*9B

I'm thinking of adding the LIN-controlled RGB ambient light.
I have 2 options currently in my mind:
1.) FDL code BDC to alter addresses on LIN bus with added rear footwell light.
2.) Use rear footwell lights with same LIN address as the front footwell lights, so that there are LIN slave duplicates.

Maybe someone looked already into this topic and can shed some light onto my thoughts.

Just shitch position to 2 different LIN-controlled RGB ambient lights, if all lights will still work and those 2 LIN-controlled RGB ambient light mentain there's own function before switch, should (maybe) work. If not, no way. On the other hand all LIN-controlled RGB ambient light are numbered, so must have unique ID(assigned by auto addressing) used for control and check purposes. Having 2 different light sources with same ID...
