Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner - but it literally sounds like basic carbon build-up. These deposits can form on the cylinder walls, pistons, and valves, etc and can affect the performance and efficiency of the engine, especially during idle.

Had an identical issue many years ago with a f30 b48 enginee. I solved by clear adaptation values and clearing fault codes after that. Never happened again.
