RE: ICOM A2 Quality (PCB PICTURES!)
(05-08-2015, 21:04 PM)doni Wrote: Hi, i was wondering if by any chance you could find out measurements/dimensions for your heat sink as ive bough an A2 without one and would like to get one manufactured. thank you I made temp measurement of both chips today with a laser temp meter, without a cooling pad and any heatsink. (This is the most delivered condition of the clones, ok some of them are equipped with a pad.) Before I checked the conditions I informed me in the Internet about the datasheet of both chips. First: KSZ8893MQL, this chip is a integrated layer 2 managed switch. I dont want explain more things at the moment, but inside the datasheet I found the max temp. condition. As you could read it is the MQL type, the grade is commercial max Operation temp. is 70°C. In my szenario I powered the ICOM A2 for only 15 minutes on, no coding no diag, idle mode. Temp. on the MICREL chip about 55°C. Second: The MPC5200VR400B (CPU) has the same grade (commercial) as the MICREL max operation temp. 70°C. Laser temp after 15 minutes in idle mode about 63°C. My conclusion is very easy both chips have to be cooled, the heatsink should also touch the housing for a better heat dissipation, this is very important. ICOM´s without any heatsink are a bomb... I will provide some pictures if I have more time, may a small CAD file for a heatsink I made today. (I have to wait for some new screwls, so no mounting is possible at the moment.) Regards, B1257 |
