when i saw this i just could not help myself , this looks a lot like the BMW inpa cable K-Dcan hardware, i had to try it , i did my FTDI chip with Mprog all good nut could not do the Atmel chip over usb , used TL866 ISP , i can program it but it revuse to write the Fuse bits no idea why but i did the code and data memory and just left the fusebits it do not match the Project files for tl866 , whel it do open vcds and say my cable need firmware 1.96 and mine is 1.95 , it updates it and all done did the TEST and i get K1 short to +12 and K2 short to +12 , and can say not pluged into car but the inpa cable do acept the programming and the VAGCOM_HWType identify it as HW44 and bootloader enabled , even VAGCOM_EEWrite do write it over usb after i programed it with tl866 , so it is not compatable or my problem is the Fuse/Lock bits , i will try with AVR

Today I also tried to upload to dcan because my vcds do not have ATMEGA. The grounds and lock were set. The same effect - shorting to 12V. It seems to me that you need to reprogram GAL, HW dcan looks the same as vcds

I found the version from my cable.

Is 1.96 with bootloader enabled.
Can I use VCDSLoader 7.2 with the latest 18.9 or i will lock my cable?

You can flash your cable over USB and use Loader v7.2 with 18.9 or even with 18.9.1 (first release) without any issues.

Hey guys, I got VAGCOM_HWType.exe from this thread but I am not getting any info if the bootloader is available or not, is it possible I need another version of vagcom_HWType.exe?

Any ideas? 

The chips on the board: ATMEGA162 16AU 1648H + FT232RL + L7805CV + 16V8B

My interface has a programming header - 6 pins that are connected to 6 pins of the Atmega chip, and also 2 jumpers, like I could set something on or off.

I tried to depict the jumpers in the pictures attached.

What is the pack, where is the pack that contains PROGISP? 

Another one I noticed is "BE SURE YOU HAVE CONNECTED CORRECT WIRES TO MISO,MOSI,SKC,RST,GND AND THAT YOU HAVE 12V ON YOUR INTERFACE. " - not sure how to get 12V on the interface?

Hello,

I have a very old VCDS clone cable. It was bricked before and recognized as USB-Serial interface.
I flashed with MPROG. Now it's recognized as "Ross-Tech HEX or KEY USB interface"
I checked with VAG-COM_HWType:

FW: 1.78
HW: 0x44
Identification: ROSSTECH
Bootloader: Enabled

Tried to flash with "VAGCOM_EEWriteLang.exe". It was succesfull.

But unfortunately I get error message ion VCDS: Interface not found
I tried with Loader 7.0 and VCDS 18.9.0

Can anybody help what is wrong?

You must reflash atmega and use loader 7.2
